Through these two short films, I not only saw the role of design in information dissemination, narrative expression and visual communication; I also saw its main role in humanities, society and technology. Let me talk about the three main inspirations these two short films gave me:
1) Design ideas can come from anything you see or hear, don’t limit your thinking. In the first short film, Tracy collected countless pieces of Twitter content and organized them into interesting graphic and interactive designs, which is a very interesting idea. In my future design, I will continue to radiate my thinking and pay attention to any small details in life that may become a design. Do not be afraid to collect any useless information, any information has meaning. I need to learn to use different ways of thinking to turn useless information into useful information.
2) Design does not only focus on visual aesthetics, but more importantly, designers must have a certain narrative ability, pass their own ideas to readers through design, and make readers feel the dual impact of vision and thought. Just like in the triangle theory given by Tracy, this triangle including superficial design, better visuals and making people feel something or feel like a part of design, so the reader occupies a very important part, and letting readers think about the theory from the design is also a function of a good design.
3)Good design is the courage to discover and solve practical problems in society, just like in Avatar Coffee, the design of robots not only solves the employment problem of some disabled people, but also reduces some of the labor costs of the coffee shop. To attract consumers through novel forms of coffee sales, greatly increase income, and provide a meaningful interaction space for the disabled and ordinary people. Also make the employment of the disabled arouse social attention, through a small entry point, increase the virtuous circle of society, this is the social function of an excellent design.
